With the aim of providing training and networking opportunities in occupational epidemiology and exposure assessment, the OMEGA-NET Action organised its first training school in Florence, Italy, on 11-15 June. “This first OMEGA-NET training school is one of few training schools in the field of occupational epidemiology,” remarked the vice chair of the project Michelle Turner.

Students and early career researchers from 13 different countries attended this introductory course, entitled “Modern Methods in Occupational Epidemiology”. It covered topics on study design in occupational epidemiology, exposure assessment, risk assessment, types of bias including confounding and the use of Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAGs), and current debates on causality.
