Welcome to Newsletter No. 3 of the EU COST Action Network on the Coordination and Harmonisation of Occupational Cohorts
8 July 2019
The third newsletter of the OMEGA-NET COST Action sets out some of the recent achievements and exciting outcomes that have planned over the next few months, such as the launch of the Inventory of Occupational Cohorts (Working Group 1), the launch of the Inventory of Tools and Methods for Assessing Occupational Exposures (Working Group 2), several publications and some training courses and events.
Moreover, over 50 scientists from OMEGA-NET are working on initiatives in support of work related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Their specific contribution is to develop short and longer versions of questionnaires that can be used in existing cohort studies and surveys in order to collect useful data on occupational and other activities that are potentially related to risk of exposure to the SARS-CoV-2 virus and other infectious agents.
The overarching concept of OMEGA-NET is to create a network to optimise and integrate occupational, industrial, and population cohorts at the European level, and to provide a foundation for an enhanced evidence base for the identification of health risks and gains related to occupation and employment to foster safe and healthy preventive strategies and policies.
